Versace Maison Makes World Fashion News

At age 25, Gianni Versace moved to Milan, Italy with dreams of becoming a fashion designer. In 1978, only six years later, Versace launched his first collection “Gianni Versace Donna” and took the fashion world by storm. Versace almost instantly became world famous by literally redefining what a fashion house was.

Under the legendary Gianni Versace’s guidance, Maison Versace skillfully combined fashion with rock and roll, art, celebrity, theater and ballet to create the brand’s signature style.

The Versace line has been associated with glamor, intrigue and tragedy almost since its inception. When Gianni Versace was murdered on July 15, 1997 on the front steps of his Miami mansion, many wondered if the Versace brand would survive.

Although Gianni Versace’s niece Allegra inherited 50% of the company, it was Versace’s younger sister Donatella Versace who inherited the role of Creative Director for the company and has been responsible for taking the House of Versace into the 21st century. When Donatella assumed responsibility for the company’s operations, she understood the importance of diversification and almost immediately began creating a line of Versace watches and jewelry in partnership with master watchmaker Franck Muller. Donatella was quick to recognize the role of watches and jewelry as a form of self-expression.

Under her creative leadership, the Versace watch collection grew and has a developed into a stunning collection of trend setting timepieces. New Versace DV One Cruise Makes World Fashion News

As noted by the New York Times and by Vogue, this iconic signature watch was reborn on September 25, 2011 when Donatella Versace presented a bold new interpretation of the DV One, which she herself had designed, at an exclusive cocktail party held during Milan’s Fashion Week.

Donatella wore an exclusive version of the new DV One Cruise, featuring a spectacular black gold bezel set with diamond cut blue sapphires and 12 baguette-cut sapphires, plus two rubies to a star studded introduction for the new watch held at Milan’s exclusive Terrazza Martini. Only three of these unique timepieces exist, and they are available only by special order.

The exclusive Versace event was attended by Le Figaro’s fashion director Virginie Mouzat and other luminaries from the world of style.

The redesigned DV One is an aesthetic triumph and joins other Versace creations, like the ultra complex limited edition Acron Tourbillon, as an example of the watchmaker’s art at its finest. The new DV One has proved once again that the house of Versace is “up to the challenge” in anything it attempts.
