The New Louis Erard 78 104 AA 11 Men’s Héritage Automatic Chronograph

by John Sealander

This superb Louis Erard three-register chronograph is a celebration of Switzerland’s watchmaking heritage.

Louis Erard WatchesWhen Louis Erard and André Perret founded Louis Erard in 1929, they were determined to continue the Swiss tradition of crafting innovative, high quality mechanical timepieces. They also wanted to do something nobody had done before: offer Swiss made quality and interesting complications at an affordable price.

Their success at turning this dream into a reality has made Louis Erard timepieces a favorite of discriminating watch aficionados and even other watchmakers. These people know that Louis Erard’s technically innovative, classically styled, all mechanical watches are an exceptional value.

The new Louis Erard Héritage Chronograph introduced at Baselworld 2014 provides an excellent example of why this small Swiss watchmaker is so highly regarded. This sophisticated three-register chronograph offers authentic vintage styling in a larger 42 mm size preferred by today’s watch fans. A beautiful silver-toned dial incorporates well-placed 30-minute and 12-hour totalizers, along with a continuous small seconds display at 9 o’clock. These beautiful, blue sub-dials provide the perfect contrast to the silver dial with its precisely engraved minute scale on the beveled chapter ring. There is also a large day/date display at 3 o’clock.
