The artistic flair and technical expertise of Giuseppe and Michele Ascione were on center stage at Baselworld 2012, when the two brothers unveiled several spectacular new additions to the Gio Monaco line. The new Scacco Matto and Rainbow Collections are both based on Gio Monaco’s popular 101 Collection.
Both of these new models were created to satisfy a growing demand for larger, oversize timepieces. The impressive, oversized 47.5 mm case has been built around an entirely new bezel design utilizing rectangular cells that allow diamonds as large as 2 mm to be set around the edge. If you thought a men’s Gio Monaco 101 with an 81-diamond bezel was impressive, just wait until you see one of these! The Scacco Matto and Rainbow Collections are available with or without diamonds and utilize the classic Gio Monaco color palette of silver, black and dark brown. There are even models available featuring a spectacular combination of black and white diamonds.

The Scacco Matto, which translates as “Checkmate” in English, features a classic, refined dial in a precise pattern that is reminiscent of a chessboard. The colorful Rainbow features a unique dial with artfully painted brush stroke numbers in pastel rainbow hues. Both new Collections are available in stainless steel, Black PVD and Rose Gold PVD.
Like the 101 Collection that inspired them, the new Scacco Matto and Rainbow Collections feature high quality Swiss made movements, anti-reflective sapphire crystals and screw-down dodecagonal crowns. Each of these fine timepieces is fitted with a genuine alligator strap and comfortable deployment buckle.
