Rebel Yell
Watches in the Viceroy Rebel collection include a stainless steel model (432121-15) and a black ion-plated stainless steel model (432119-55). They two watches share several attributes in addition to square, stainless steel cases: both watches are powered by quartz movements, employ mineral glass crystals and are built to be water resistant to a depth of 165 feet. The black model is a hair larger than the steel model at 44 mm and 43 mm respectively.
Even with these similarities, each watch has its own look. The steel model, with less black in the design and a brown leather strap, is visually layered and has more contrasting elements. It also has a date function that is practical for daily wear. The three-dimensional dial is mostly gray, with black and white elements throughout. The hour numerals are large and white except at 2, 6 and 10 o’clock, where the numerals are replaced with solid bars that have the effect of separating the numerals symmetrically into three sections of three. A handy inside track shows military hours from 13 through 24. The second hand is red with an arrowhead tip that complements the look of the hour and minute hands.
The black ion-plated model is more dominant in its appearance, which is a result of the profusion of black. The only other color incorporated into the watch is white; it is used to fill the markers on the bezel including the four points of a compass (N, S, E and W), and on the dial. The appearance of the dial is quite orderly as a result. This model has no date function. The black ion-plated Viceroy Rebel has a black leather strap with a cracked, distressed appearance, and a matching ion-plated tang buckle. Like the stainless steel model, this watch has a solid stainless steel caseback.
