Buyers had an opportunity to view the dramatic 50 mm multi-function Globe Collection, with its chronograph style subdials. The urban gentleman got some attention with the introduction of the men’s Aventura Collection. This bold 44 mm chronograph features a knurled bezel adorned with Versus pyramids and secured with six Allen bolts.

The bold Miami Collection wowed the WWD Magic audience with its youthful energy and iconic imagery. This edgy 40 mm masterpiece is like nothing else on the market, featuring signature Versus studs and two personalized Versus safety pins.

Versus WatchesTwo times a year buyers, editors as well as bloggers flock to Las Vegas for the WWD Magic fashion trade show held in the Las Vegas Convention Center. A show catering to young women and teens, it’s the place to be to find out the latest styles for the upcoming season. The show is so influential because trends aren’t just discovered here, they’re created. In over 5,000 brands vying for attention, the Versus by Versace booth stands out as a destination.

Designed for hip, young fashionistas, Versus is the edgier side to Versace. According to Donatella Versace, the Creative Director, Versus is the brand’s rock-n-roll soul. The line includes everything from clothing and shoes to accessories, such as watches.

Versus Setting the Trend for Fashionistas

“Watches are a hot accessory, an easy way to add personality to an outfit,” says Kari Allen, President of Versace Timepieces USA. “Our Versus watches set the trend for fashionistas with their youthful vibe and progressive style.” She adds, “The Versus Miami, Key Biscayne, Globe and Aventura collections particularly caught the eye of the fashion forward crowd.”

While all the Versus watches possess character and presence, there were four collections that took center stage.

Versus Miami Collection

Both men and women gravitated to the Versus Miami, a bold timepiece encapsulating a rock-n-roll spirit. In a 40 mm case, the watch features the Versus lion on the dial. In order not to detract from the feline image, the designers kept the dial clean by not including a seconds hand and using baton indexes and sword hands. Showing off some spunk are the Versus-studded bezel and the black leather strap sporting the Versus safety pins.

Versus Key Biscane Collection

For the woman with a rebel edge, the Key Biscayne was just the right sensibility. It merges high style with attitude just like the South Florida island it’s named after. The collection pops with color including dials in pink, green, orange, white and black set against a raised metal chapter ring with Versus studs acting as indexes at the quarter hours. Don’t expect a regular strap here. This one includes a working metal zipper on a topstitched leather strap that includes the Versus Lion safety pins.

Versus Globe Collection

Only Versace could make bigger the way to go when everyone else is trending smaller. At a whopping 50 mm, the Versus Globe draws a line in the sand and dares anyone to question its stature. With a three-subdial layout at 12, 9 and 6 o’clock, the Globe looks like a chronograph, but looks can be deceiving. The subdials show the day, date and a 24-hour counter. Substantial Arabic numerals circle the dial with contrast added by shading the quarter hours in a separate color. The dials are offered in a sleek selection of blue, black and silver. Cases come in stainless steel, IP black, IP rose gold and IP yellow gold, which secure to the wrist with a PV black strap with overstitching.

Versus Aventura Collection

A chronograph is the quintessential male complication. Associated with science, aviation and popularized in car racing, it is a helpful tool to measure intervals of time. Versace takes this traditional complication and gives it a fashionable makeover with the Aventura.

The dial keeps it classic with a tri-compax layout of subdials at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock. Baton markers with lumed tips circle the dial crowned by an Arabic numeral 12, while a tachymeter circles the flange. The sword hands also get the lume treatment to help with visibility. A convenient date aperture resides at 4 o’clock. The Aventura mixes it up on the case. The bezel is embellished with the signature Versus pyramids anchored by 6 Allen bolts. The crown and crown guards also add to the rebellious stance of the Aventura. Dial options include silver, white and black and cases in stainless and black on leather or bracelet straps.

From the response of the crowds the Versace Versus watch collections received at the WWD Magic Show in Las Vegas, it’s clear Versace is still a leader in setting the stage for the next wave of fashion.

Versus to Reveal Hot Timepiece Trends at WWD Magic Show Las Vegas August 18-20

Versus WatchesTwo times a year, in February and August, the fashion industry flocks to the WWD Magic Show at the Las Vegas Convention Center to snap up the newest and most innovative looks of the season. Here at the largest global marketplace, the brands come to show their wares, and collectively write over $200 million dollars in orders.

A trailblazer of trends, the Versus booth is sure to be a destination with its unique and original watch collections. Creative Director Donatella Versace defines this extension line as the rock-n-roll soul of the eponymous Versace brand. And when you examine the timepieces they definitely have that rebellious and youthful attitude of a younger sibling. Kari Allen, President of Versace Timepieces USA, notes that the WWD Magic Show is a perfect showcase for Versus. “When buyers want to know what’s next in timepieces for fashionistas, they come to Versus,” she says. “They are conceived for the man and woman with style and taste who want to make a statement.”

The Versus Globe collection for men stands out by going against the grain. While watch diameters have been sizing down lately, the Globe watches defiantly announce themselves with a 50 mm diameter that transcends trend. The dial layout resembles a chronograph with its three subdials but like a plucky sibling who likes to be clever, the subdials are actually a day, date and 24-hour counter. Large Arabic numerals circle the dial, offered in blue, black and silver with contrasting colors at the quarter hours. Cases come in stainless steel, IP black, IP rose gold or IP yellow gold. Running off a robust quartz movement, the Versus Globe wraps around the wrist with a PV black strap with overstitching.

Another collection sure to cause a stir is the Coconut Grove for women. The watches take the spirit of their namesake city located in Florida, an enclave of galleries, festivals and sailing regattas that has a much calmer and refined atmosphere than Miami. Housed in a 38 mm round case, the dials, in a range of colors, feature a subtle geometric pattern that reveals itself as the light bounces off it. Classic Versus studs circle the bezel reminding that this watch possesses that rock-n-roll spirit. The Versus Coconut Grove comes on a lovely stainless steel link bracelet with a jewelry buckle. It’s as stylish in the city that inspired it as it is around the world.

Versus turned to “The City Beautiful” of Coral Gables, Florida for inspiration for the women’s watch collection of the same name. The city of Coral Gables is mostly composed of Mediterranean Revival style architecture and the Coral Gables watch collection captures this spirit with its symmetrical features combined with dramatic ornamentation. Defined by a stud degradé theme, the pattern can be found on the dial, bezel and as an integral part of the jewelry bracelet. In a 36 mm stainless steel case this time only watch completes the picture with elegant dauphine hands and applied baton indexes. Offered with dials in gold, black, white and silver, and with bracelets in stainless steel, IP gold or two-tone, the Coral Gables collection offers beauty with just the right amount of edge.

The dramatic two-hand configuration combines raised bar hour markers with sword hands and the Versus logo at 3 o’clock for its signature look.
