If you’re a jewelry industry professional, JCK Las Vegas 2016 is already on your calendar. This spectacular event, taking place from June 3 thru June 6, is considered mandatory for leading manufacturers, buyers, retailers, and journalists. Each year over 23,000 retailers and 2,300 exhibitors from around the globe gather at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino to build business relationships, network with their peers, and get a first hand look at the most sought after trends for the coming year.

The romantic new Ferragamo Cuore is one of the most beautiful ladies timepieces in recent memory. This unique 39 mm two hand configuration features an eye catching and innovative beating heart complication at 6 o’clock. The pulsating heart separates and rejoins once a second for two minutes when the mechanism is activated by pressing the crown. The spectacular dial is decorated with a pattern based on the shape of Ferragamo’s iconic Gancino bag clasp and features a delicate sub-dial encircled with sparking crystals at 11 o’clock to indicate the time.

Versace and Versus Watches Wow JCK Las Vegas 2015

When Versace and Versus, two of the world’s favorite timepiece brands attend the jewelry industry’s most important event, it’s a recipe for excitement and sales. Although the annual JCK Show at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas is over for another year, the excitement the show generated will last for months to come. A big part of this excitement originated at the all-new Versace and Versus booth.

According to Kari Allen, President of Versace Timepieces USA, their new booth at the show was a big hit and retailers are already excited about showcasing new Versace and Versus timepieces collections during the upcoming Fall and Holiday shopping season.

There was plenty to get excited about this year, with important new collections from both Versace and their youthful sister company, Versus by Versace. Additionally, a whole new line of Versace writing instruments made their JCK debut this year.


Versace DV-25 Collection

Versace WatchesThe stunning new DV-25 may well be the ultimate dress and cocktail watch. Created and worn by Donatella Versace herself, this 30×30 mm square design redefines the House of Versace in a fresh and completely modern way. This opulent two-hand configuration pairs the familiar Versace studs and Greek key motif with sparkling diamond indices.

A special limited edition adds additional diamonds on the top ring for a luxurious fashion forward look. There is even a one-of-a-kind DV-25 created expressly for Donatella to wear that embellishes an 18 kt solid gold case with 28 brilliant baguette cut diamonds on the top ring.

The reimagined Versace V-Metal Icon Collection features intriguing floating hands, which seem to move around the dial without being mechanically attached. To create this illusion, these mysterious hands are mounted on transparent rotating crystal disks that are encircled by a beautiful gourmette bezel, inspired by a traditional Italian curb link chain.

For over 130 years, Jewelers’ Circular Keystone magazine has been the industry authority, keeping jewelry and watch retailers, manufacturers, and vendors up-to-date about important industry issues and style trends impacting their business. As part of their ongoing efforts to inform and educate the industry, Jewelers’ Circular Keystone sponsors the annual JCK Show at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.

Travel Gold Coast and Dubai in Palazzo Versace Style

Versace WatchesWhen you’re away from home in some of the world’s most glamorous cities, you can still wrap yourself in the world of Versace. In addition to clothes, housewares and accessories, including jewelry and watches, Versace was purportedly the first high fashion brand to get into the hospitality business, creating magnificent palazzi to luxuriate in.

The Palazzo Versace was actually the idea of Soheil Abedian of the Sunland Group. In 1997 he brought the proposal of a Versace branded hotel to the Versace family who thought it would be a great extension to their company. Abedian believed that now deceased founder of Versace, Gianni Versace, who loved architecture, would appreciate a Versace hotel for weary travelers to shop, relax and lay their heads after an exciting day. Abedian’s plan could work because at that time Versace was the only fashion house that had a home collection and could completely outfit a hotel with essentials such as pillows, fabric, porcelain, cutlery, etc.

By September 2000, the first Versace Palazzo was open for business in Southern Queensland, Australia in Gold Coast Broadwater. The first location was chosen because of the year-round temperate weather, perfect for yachting, diving, golfing, surfing or just lazing on the golden beaches. Many attractions also call this location home like Sea World, Dream World and the Warner Brothers Movie World.

Shoppers will be in heaven starting with Versace’s signature boutique in the lobby where they can get the hottest fashions and designed products. A short distance away is the retail precinct of Marina Mirage where more designers offer their wears. After or before getting bags full of goodies there are the options of going to the theater, browsing the galleries, admiring the architecture, gambling in the casinos or tasting wine at the wineries. For those with an appreciation of nature, there is the World Heritage National Park. Afterwards, come home to the Palazzo and dine in one of three world-class restaurants.

After the success of the Gold Coast Versace Palazzo location, another Versace Palazzo is under construction in Dubai in Culture Village on the foreshore of Dubai Creek. Palazzo Versace Dubai will be the centerpiece of the 40,000,000 square foot area that will include a harbor, dockside developments and cultural and exhibition centers.

If you thought Palazzo Gold Coast was decadent, wait to you see what’s in store for Dubai. While about 90% of the artisans working on Palazzo Dubai are living in the United Arab Emirates, an Italian mosaic expert is developing the hand-cut marble and glass tesserae that will make up a mosaic inside the Palazzo.

Like the Gold Coast, Versace chose Dubai for a Palazzo location because Culture Village is planned to be a historical hub of Dubai featuring museums, souks, galleries, museums, designers and quaint cobblestone walkways. Developed on 1,400,000 square feet, it will include 146 rooms and 58 suites. There also exists an option to purchase condos and penthouses. Public spaces will surround the area showcasing artifacts, sculpture and art within landscaped gardens featuring promenades, reflection pools and terraces. Palazzo Dubai is its own little oasis.

Inside the Dubai Palazzo will be restaurants of the same caliber found in the Gold Coast Palazzo, as well as a spa, meeting rooms, bars and pool bars. Of course, the rooms will be equally lush, outfitted with Versace branded linens, furniture, etc. and even an opportunity to make the Palazzo home by buying a one to six bedroom condominium.

Versace goes all out in their designs and product and the Palazzos are no exception. If you travel to the Gold Coast or Dubai (when the Palazzo is finished), then they should be a destination, a great way to be in the hub of the city and get pampered. British Luxury Watch Distributor Nuval Limited Goes Into Receivership

Versace and Versus request their names be removed from all Nuval communications.

When a company that formerly handled top luxury brands like Arnold & Son, Ball, Fendi, Phillip Stein, Salvatore Ferragamo, Versace, Versus and MeisterSinger shuts its doors and goes into administration, chaos can ensue.

On hearing the news of the Nuval receivership, fashion industry powerhouse Versace was quick to issue a statement making it clear that none of its luxury watch brands had any involvement with Nuval, despite the fact that the Nuval website recently featured both Versace and Versus branding.

Francesca Manfredi, PR manager for the Vertime, which manufacturers timepieces for Versus and Versace, told reporters: “While we have been negotiating for some time with Nuval regarding distribution of our brands in the UK, a contract was never signed. Now, after months of delays, we understand why this has occurred.” Vertime has requested that Nuval immediately remove the Versace and Versus names and any associated branding from all future Nuval communications.

Nuval’s Commercial Director Richard Darling, at the company’s Birmingham office, has confirmed the news that Nuval has gone into administration in the UK. However, Nuval has not released any details about the Friday, February 7th receivership announcement.

In related news, Ball Watches has hired Nick Wiseman, former Ball brand manager at Nuval, as their new in-house head of distribution. Since the UK represents a large and growing market for luxury timepieces, the demise of a major distributor like Nuval will continue to send shock waves through the watch industry.

It remains to be seen whether other major brands will take their UK distribution in-house like Ball Watches did. The only thing that is certain at this point is that important brands like Versace and Versus will continue to serve British customers in the most effective way possible.
