Fortis F-43 Jumping Hours Watch
The F-43 Jumping Hours watch comes in two versions: one with a black dial inscribed with hypnotic concentric white circles, and a skeletonized dial that reveals the jumping hour wheel and mechanism. Both versions of the Jumping Hours watch use the same movement and feature a jumping circular disc at 12 o’clock to indicate the hour. Minutes are indicated more traditionally, using a central minute hand. The beautiful minimal design is both innovative and easy to read.
The 43 mm stainless steel timepiece features a fluted screw-in crown, a scratch resistant sapphire crystal and an impressive water resistance of 656 feet. Fortis has been involved with developing timepieces specifically designed to withstand the rigors of space travel for over forty years. In 1994, the Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph Automatic became part of the regulation equipment handed over to cosmonauts before each launch. To this day, every cosmonaut and astronaut who goes through the training program at the Yuri Gagarin Cosmonaut Training Center in Russia receives a Fortis watch as part of their official space equipment.

To celebrate the company’s long and illustrious involvement with manned spaceflight, astronauts Oleg Novitsky, Evgeny Tarelkin and Roman Romanenko recently sent their congratulations to the Fortis team for a job well done directly from the International Space Station.
This special message in honor of the Fortis 100 Year Centennial also included the presentation of a special flag of the Russian Federation, complete with the signature and stamp of the International Space Station. This special flag will occupy a place of honor at the Fortis Museum when the astronauts return to earth. The astronaut’s Fortis watches will occupy a place of honor as well: on their wrists!

Slick Dual-Register Chronographs for Life Off the Track
The World Rally Championship (WRC) is a series of multi-day motorsport races held in 13 countries, on four continents, over a single calendar year. Edox is the official timing partner of the WRC. The well-established partnership is based on a shared philosophy where precision, technical knowledge and reliability are paramount – principles that are valued by watchmakers and motorsport engineers alike.
Edox’s WRC Classic Chronograph collection is an off-track, thinner and more elegant version of the brand’s WRC Chronorally series, which features oversized aluminum pushers, tachymeters, rubber straps and other sporty details designed for rough race conditions. The WRC Classic Chronograph does away with these bold sport-centric elements in favor of a cleaner aesthetic, but it retains the chronograph complication that is at the heart of this race-inspired collection.

Unlike most modern chronographs, the WRC Classic Chronograph has a dual-register that offers a neater, more balanced dial than the ubiquitous triple-register chronograph. (The chronograph elapsed hours counter is the one omitted.) This dual-register configuration places the chronograph 30-minute counter at 9 o’clock and a continuous seconds counter at 3 o’clock. The sweeping chronograph seconds hand is centrally mounted.
The date window at 6 o’clock adds vertical balance to the dial, as does the text, all of which is centered vertically. The hands on the watch are lance-style with the exception of the central chronograph hand, which has an arrowhead; this complements the odd-hour markers that are represented by inward-pointing arrowheads. The even hours on the watch are marked by Arabic numerals.

WRC Classic Chronograph cases are 42 mm in diameter and made of stainless steel; gold-colored models are coated with PVD. The height of the case is just below 10 mm, meaning the watch is shirt friendly.
On the crown side of the case, a sleek design blends the chronograph pushers and crown guards for a near-seamless look. The chronograph pushers are atypically low-profile, slightly curved and inset, so they protrude just past the crown guards. This has the effect of smoothing the appearance so no one element sticks out. The crown itself screws down and the crystal is sapphire, helping ensure the watch’s water resistance to a depth of 165 feet.
A dependable Swiss made quartz movement keeps the WRC Classic Chronograph motoring. The collection has four dial versions: silver-tone markers on a white, blue or black dial, or gold-tone markers on a white dial. Each of these is available on either a leather strap or a stainless steel bracelet.
