There’s no question that the Italians are the leaders in fashion design. Consider that Italian fashion brands Versace and Ferragamo are among the most coveted in the world. When Haurex established their company in 1989 in Bologna, Haurex wanted to capture this Italian design magic in their watches using the fashion world as inspiration. That’s why they located their company in the vortex of the action to observe the cutting edge trends in vogue. To show they were serious about staying abreast of current directions and incorporating them into their watches, Haurex established a design shop on their premises. Just like in fashion, they pay particular attention to the color, materials and lines of the product. At the same time, they offer uncompromised quality at an affordable price.
With the Caimano, Haurex has beautifully translated their philosophy into a dive watch and this collection perfectly exemplifies why the brand keeps their finger on the pulse of horological wrist wear. The diver was originally built for military purposes and only later made it to the mass market for underwater explorers. But it was in 1962 that it became an acceptable civilian accessory when Sean Connery wore one with his tux when he played James Bond Agent 007 in the movie “Doctor No”. Now the diver is a watch that’s in almost every man’s arsenal for daily wear.
The Caimano exemplifies a perfect blend of fashion and function. In a 45 mm stainless steel case covered with durable plastceramic, the watch is of modern size to wear on land and in the sea. As required for a dive watch the Caimano has a unidirectional timing bezel as well as a screw-down crown and is water resistant to 330 feet. The black dial features dot markers and an Arabic numeral at the 12 o’clock position for the hours with a minute track around the outer perimeter, while a magnified date resides at 3 o’clock. Both the hour markers and hands are luminescent for readability in low light conditions. As an extra fun design element, an alligator roars at the 6 o’clock position.

The Caimano, which contains a quartz movement, is offered in five colors: blue black, orange, red and yellow with a matching silicon band and second hand. Black lugs and crown guards provide nice contrast giving the watch a bold look. For a fashionable watch appropriate for just about any occasion, you can’t go wrong with the Haurex Caimano Watch Collection.
