The glamour and intrigue of Versace was on center stage at Baselworld 2012 when the fabled fashion house unveiled some new and very exciting timepiece collections. Headlining the event was the new Versace Mystique Collection. Donatella Versace has taken some of the Maison’s historical motifs and iconic themes and skillfully woven them into a rich, Baroque masterwork.
With four major variations, the Mystique Collection exemplifies the careful balance of classical and modern influences that keep the Versace myth alive and vibrant. The Mystique Hibiscus line is decorated with a beautifully executed cloisonné Hibiscus flower and palm leaves. The floral motif is available in six different models, including one with a diamond set bezel. The Mystique Flora line recalls the major themes of the Versace Fall-Winter 2012 fashion shows, with stylized climbing tulips in yellow and turquoise. The 26 mm Mystique Small line add an elegant, refined look to the collection for dressy occasions, and finally the bold 43.5 mm Mystique Chrono line gives men a way to enjoy this signature new look.
The new Versace Vanity Collection was inspired by a detail on one of Versace’s signature handbags. Two metal studs used in the popular bag prominently display Versace’s signature depiction of Caravaggio’s Medusa on the beautiful crocodile pattern band. A classic “Greca” pattern dial with Roman indices complete the look.
Versace has definitely not forgotten about the men in 2012. With the Baselworld introduction of three major new men’s collections: The Business GTM, the Character, and the V-Race GMT Alarm, Versace is expanding on the bold, oversize look it popularized with the introduction of the iconic DV One Cruise Collection.
The 43 mm Business GTM, with it innovative “day-night” display, presents a dramatic new way to view the time in important cities around the world. The refined 42.5 mm Character Collection is one of the finest “three-eye” chronographs ever produced. The attention to detail on this classically styled timepiece is exquisite. The signature Character Automatic is produced in a limited edition of only 200 pieces. Last, but definitely not least, is the new V-Race GTM Alarm. This 46 mm monster is impossible to ignore with the Medusa logo at 12 o’clock and an oversize date window at 6 o’clock. With separate, color coded hands for alarm and 24-hour time functions, this remarkable timepiece puts all your essential information right on your wrist.
Like all Versace watches, these new Baselworld 2012 introductions are designed in Italy by Versace’s own skilled designers and produced in Switzerland to the highest quality standards. The signature styles and superb craftsmanship of these spectacular new timepieces continue the legacy that the Versace brand has come to represent.
